Apple Fritter Donut Holes


What’s the best part about this recipe? Aside from the blissful taste of cinnamon sugar apple donuts at first bite, this recipe is foolproof and super easy. It requires only four ingredients: pink lady apples (or any other red apple), yogurt, sugar, and self-rising flour.

  1. Peel and thinly slice the apples.
  2. Place apples and yogurt in a large food processor and process 3. until apples are completely chopped and well mixed with yogurt.
  3. Add the yogurt-apple mixture to the self-rising flour mixture and mix well with a spatula to avoid over-mixing.
  4. Transfer to a large, round, piping bag fitted with a large round tip, and cut off both ends.
  5. The dough/batter for the donuts should look loose. (See video for firmness.) If the dough looks dry, you may add a spoonful of milk.
  6. Transfer to a squeeze bag fitted with a round tip.
  7. Heat oil to 170°C and fry the fritters in batches until golden brown.
  8. Place doughnuts in cinnamon sugar and pour icing over top.
