Heart of the Wild” trailer shows the effect of similar “Monster Hunter” game

EA and Koei Tecmo have released the first trailer for the action RPG and a glimpse into some of the beautiful, deadly and awesome monsters called beasts in Heart of the Wild.

Hearts of the Wild’s mission is to tame these majestic and ferocious creatures, but it remains to be seen whether the ultimate goal is to tame them with traps and other means, like monster hunters, or to force them to end their lives. The trailer’s narrator tells us that the world has fallen into ruin thanks to these monsters, but honestly, we are not surprised. Some are as big as hills, while others, like rooted boars roaming harmless flower gardens, are sure to ruin a well-deserved picnic trip.

Heart of the Wild is no doubt inspired by Capcom’s Monster Hunter, and weapons include a katana (long sword) and a bow. However, Koei Tecmo seems to have doubled down on the combat. Some of the weapons are interesting variations, such as a katana with a split blade and a bow that radiates mystical power.

The narrator also says that you have a creative spirit and that over time you will build new combat aids, such as wooden bombs, electrified towers, and elaborate traps to hunt down your enemies. Do you learn by fighting, or do you actually harvest parts of the beasts to make them? The trailer is not interested in showing these particular details.

Wild Hearts will be released for consoles and PC on February 17, 2023.
