The Backrooms have released a new survival horror game that is available to play on Itch right now

One of my favorite Internet phenomena, The Backrooms is a series of blogs, short films, and thrillers detailing the eerie liminal space between reality haunted by Lovecraftian ghouls. Inspired by Slender Man and SCP, Backrooms’ new survival horror game is now available for download on Itch.

Originally released in 1998, The Chamber is a found footage-style psycho-horror game in which you must navigate the eponymous sub-reality while finding clues, spray-painting your way, and, of course, avoiding the various new creatures that try to hunt you down! You will have to. With high-end visuals and decent voice acting, it’s pretty much a stand-alone project.” ‘Sometimes what looks like a shadow is not a shadow,’ the game’s description says.” Something or someone may be lurking out there with you. 1998’s The Chamber of Secrets, made by Steelkrill Studio, a one-man developer who sells games at any price you want, captures the grainy VHS and sharp camera flash effects of the best-found footage films and looks very professional look. Naturally, it’s also very scary, a series of eerie slow-motion sequences haunted by ghosts, mannequins, and blinding shadow monsters.

The current version is only a teaser, but if you like a good horror movie, and especially if you’re looking for something for Halloween, 1998’s “Chamber of Secrets” is not to be missed. Just don’t forget the spray paint. The back room is alive and trying to trap you in any way it can.

The first “Dead Space” remake game trailer is still a surprise

The first gameplay trailer for the upcoming “Dead Space” remake has finally been released, and I can tell you this. This is definitely Dead Space. The original “Dead Space” is 14 years old, but in my mind, it looks just like this new video. The enemies, the environment, the ever-so-convenient (and clichéd) “cut off a limb” written in dirty blood on the wall. But clearly, we’ve come a long way. The original version didn’t look bad, but it has certainly aged. The remastered version looks much better, with many technical improvements, including an “intensity director” that dynamically adjusts objects, enemies, environmental effects, and even Isaac’s physical reactions. Gone are the loading screens; Ishimura, where Dead Space is located, is one fully interconnected environment.
