Skyrim’s new mod serves as a novel way to pass the time, giving up life as Dragonborn, the protagonist of the Elder Scrolls RPG, and grind out your days as a classic Bethesda NPC, taking in the grim atmosphere as you await details of Star Realms’ release date.

The real-life pressure is quite unrelenting. Bills Work. Responsibility. And the cruel irony is that very often, as in Starz, you are forced into the role of the only person who can save the world. If you think shopping and making dinner is hard work, this time the fate of an entire civilization rests on your shoulders.

What if you just want to be swept into the background? What if you want to be a nobody, an anonymous NPC-like character who just fades into the background of a mundane Bethesda? What if, in the immortal words of the “Cheers” theme song, you wanted to “go somewhere where no one knows your name”? Well, there are Skyrim mods for pretty much everything, just as there are Skyrim mods for Skyrim.

After the “Rise of the Dragon” quest, Skyrim’s story concludes with “I Am Not of the Dragonborn,” but kill “Mirmulnir” to absorb his soul and confirm to a stunned Whiterun bystander that you are in fact the chosen one Instead, after killing the dragon, just. Go back to what you’re doing now. You are not a Dragonborn – you are just a person. This is the ultimate de-empowering game, where you can do whatever you want without anyone expecting you to do it.

Described by creator Lobo22 as “a great mod for people who are tired of playing as the chosen one,” you can even remove all references to your being a Dragonborn from NPC conversations. Download I Am Not The Dragonborn from Nexus Mods and spend your time walking around Skyrim doing completely pointless things.

The first “Dead Space” remake game trailer is still a surprise

The first gameplay trailer for the upcoming “Dead Space” remake has finally been released, and I can tell you this. This is definitely Dead Space. The original “Dead Space” is 14 years old, but in my mind, it looks just like this new video. The enemies, the environment, the ever-so-convenient (and clichéd) “cut off a limb” written in dirty blood on the wall. But clearly, we’ve come a long way. The original version didn’t look bad, but it has certainly aged. The remastered version looks much better, with many technical improvements, including an “intensity director” that dynamically adjusts objects, enemies, environmental effects, and even Isaac’s physical reactions. Gone are the loading screens; Ishimura, where Dead Space is located, is one fully interconnected environment. Kena has released a major anniversary update on Steam, which is also available on other platforms and includes a new mode, a new Game+ and quite a bit more content.
